After a recent trip to Sanrio Puroland, I was inspired to needle felt some of my favorite Sanrio characters. I don’t remember Kuromi from my childhood, but I have seen this character in stores. And when I went to Sanrio Puroland, I had a Kuromi-themed black curry for lunch, which was ultra-cute!
I decided to make a Kuromi to accompany the My Melody Tsum Tsum I created in my last tutorial. This is a tutorial for needle felters who are a little more advanced. There are some small details on this piece, such as the skull and eyes that require some skill to attach. Also, the ears are not the easiest appendages to attach because of their length.
In this video, I do not go into detail as much as I do in some of my beginner videos on things such as how to attach facial features and appendages. If you are a beginner making this piece, it may take you a little longer than the stated time. I would recommend watching

In this video, I review a Clover brand felting mat made of bristles. The bristles feel much like hairbrush bristles. This felting mat is a little different from your average felting mat that is just a block of foam. I found that it is great for felting flat pieces, but it tends to collect a lot of stray wool fibers.
4 grams of white wool
2 grams of black wool
less than 1 gram of pink wool
Time Required: approximately 90 minutes
15-20 minutes for body
10 min for black hood
15-20 min for ears
15-20 min for face
15 min for attaching pieces
Difficulty Level: Intermediate
