The Little Twins Stars are two of my favorite Sanrio characters! Kiki is the boy little twin star with blue hair, and Lala is the girl little twin star with pink hair. When we visited Sanrio Puroland last month, we learned the story of Kiki and Lala.
It goes something like this… I’m not sure I remember all the details and a lot of it was in Japanese. Kiki and Lala were born in another galaxy. They grew up and were very well loved by everyone. They liked to play in the clouds and have fun! But after a while, Kiki and Lala’s parents thought they were starting to get a little spoiled, so they decided to send the twins down to Earth for a while. Kiki was given a star on his back to protect him, and Lala was given a star wand. I don’t remember the rest of the story… womp womp. All I remember is that we had to chant, “Twinkle, twinkle, kira kira star!” over and over again before entering Kiki and Lala’s house, which was very cool! My daughter enjoyed it very much.

If you are interested in making Kiki as well, my tutorial is here.
While making Lala, I accidentally broke one of the needles on my felting pens. It happens 🙁 But I used this opportunity to show you how to remove a broken needle using tweezers. First, gently squeeze your needle felted piece until the needle pops out. But be careful not to poke your fingers! It can sometimes be difficult to find a broken needle, and you may have to squeeze at different angles. Once you have located the needle, use a pair of tweezers to pull out the needle as you squeeze your piece to expose it. (You can watch this at about 1:36 into the video). I suppose there’s no harm in leaving the needle inside if you are just planning to let your final product sit on your shelf. Just poke carefully when adding on additional details. But if you are like me and have small children who play with your needle felted pieces, you will want to remove any broken needle pieces.
