I’m really excited to share this cat sleeping mask needle felt tutorial with you. This is my biggest and probably most functional needle felt piece yet! I was inspired by the sleeping mask that Audrey Hepburn wore in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. I decided to put my own twist on the mask and make it into a kawaii sleeping cat mask. I hope you enjoy this tutorial!
I adore the color of this wool. It’s a lighter shade of Tiffany blue but isn’t it gorgeous?
Since the base is so huge (I used about 10 grams of wool here where my other tutorials typically use 2-4 grams), and it’s a completely flat piece, the felting tool that I used in the video is perfect. With 5 needles instead of one, it helps to speed up the felting process.
This project looks complicated but it’s really quite simple and good for beginners. It’s just time consuming because of the size, so make sure you use a multi pronged felting pen or tool!
It pained me a little to glue the wool at the end, but I feel it’s the easiest way. Another option would be to sew.
