I give you my easy felt flower hair clip tutorial diy! I cut the flowers out free hand but you can download the pattern here if you find it difficult: felt flower pattern by kawaii felting
I decided to do a little tutorial on some flower hair clips that I made for my girls. These flowers remind me of the hydrangea that are currently in season in Japan. The rainy season flower… so beautiful! Hydrangea are becoming my favorite flower. Hydrangea are called “ajisai” 紫陽花 or アジサイ in Japanese.
I actually made these flowers for a craft fair that was quite unsuccessful. I felt as though I was slaving away making so many of the same flower. I enjoyed making a few for my daughter, but after making 5 or so I felt done. So I decided not to do craft fairs anymore. I enjoy the creative process of making a few pieces but I don’t really like making the same thing over and over again! I like to create something new.
Supplies for this tutorial:
-felt in any color of your choice for the flower
-thread or embroidery floss
-a barrette. I used a snap barrette but you can use any kind that you choose!
As I said before, this tutorial was inspired by the beautiful flower of the rainy season, the hydrangea!! I visited a temple to see a whole garden of hydrangea in bloom. If you live in the Tokyo area, I recommend visiting Takahata Fudoson Temple to see the hydrangea in June! http://www.takahatafudoson.or.jp/
